Watercolors - My personal connection to Gettysburg...

What interests me in doing watercolors of the battlefield is the emotional connection with the subject. I was trained as a narrative illustrator and the subjects I choose seem to have that narrative quality. The barns, houses, & fields all were witness to the greatest military engagement on the North American Continent. I hope my paintings can touch that story. The spontaneity of the watercolor medium frees the creativity that helps me with Composing the more complex historical paintings.
